Driven by the popularity of our Atomic Layer Deposition (ALD) systems for R&D and manufacturing, and our expansion into new product lines and markets, Cambridge NanoTech is looking for a seasoned Applications Scientist, based in our Cambridge headquarters to support the US Region.

Application Scientist

 In this role you will work closely with our Sales Managers and our Cambridge, MA based scientists and engineers to provide technical support to the region. As the region's lead technical person, you will assist the Sales Managers in developing new sales opportunities and working with existing CNT customers to create future sales.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Prospecting
  • Technical qualification of application and need
  • Samples and demo coordination
  • Development of technical champion within the account
  • Assist in quotation creation to match technical need(configuration)
  • Marshall answers and own response for technical portions of RFP/RFQ
  • Assist in cost analysis where appropriate
  • Help regional team understand and position CNT technical capabilities
  • Travel to customer sites providing technical presentations and site visit assistance
  • Assist Account Management to tailor presentations and proposals to customer need
  • Assist regional team to identify target market opportunities
  • Provide technical post sales support-first point of contact and coordinator of response
  • Provide process recommendations for current and potential customers
  • Train sales team on tool hardware and process as needed
  • Review and provide input to Marketing for product and technical collateral
  • Competitive analysis
  • Provide input to business unit on region's opportunities and technical needs

Core Competencies

The ideal candidate for this position has:

  • Ability to multitask within a team-oriented environment
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Eagerness to learn with a self-starter attitude
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Experience with vacuum thin film deposition equipment, tools and processes a must
  • Willingness to travel up to 50% to customer sites in the US
  • 1-3 years sceintific experience with thin film coatings, semiconductor, or related technologies
